popsicles you say …?

Popsicles and summer, we love them both! Doing just blended fruit or fruit juice is good but also leaves us with the feeling of a bit empty, so we always add our raw KEFIR. Cold, fruity, nourishing, protein, pre/probiotics, and filling. More than just a fruit sugar high, a solid snack in-between work!

We are doing raw KEFIR-everything right now as long as it is cold, cold, and colder!

SMOOTHIES – yes please, with whatever you want to blend for the morning – fruit, matcha, carob, honey, any supplements you take. A great way to start the day. I’ve been enjoying our raspberries from last season.

BUBBLY – and another yes! My friend drinks our KEFIR with sparkling water and lime, I tried it and it is so good, also so good with orange or grapefruit plus lots of ice. Refreshing and filling, and I love bubble anything to drink!

POPSICLES – yes yes please! KEFIR, fruit, honey, blend, pour into molds, freeze, consume on hot days, YUM! The best creamsicles you will ever have, and probably the most nourishing! This week we are doing –

  • kefir/peach/maple syrup
  • kefir/matcha/honey
  • kefir/maple syrup (this one tastes like root-beer and is so weirdly refreshing!)
  • kefir/mixed berries
  • kefir/mango/honey (I might add a squirt of lime to this one)
  • kefir/lime/orange/honey

CANINE POPSICLES – woof! Don’t leave your dog out! (just freeze without the stick!) Cooling, nutritious, and for teething puppies there is COLD relief!

  • KEFIR and bone broth is a winner every time!
  • For the good eaters – KEFIR, bone broth and one sardine
  • KEFIR, banana, spirulina, bone broth
  • KEFIR and two egg yolks
  • KEFIR, watermelon (such great potassium on a hot day)

FETA

I love the fresh-feta that I have been making, perfect with everything summer. The additional step of marinating in oil and black pepper corns for sure gives it a little something extra.

This (4lbs of cheese) is my longer cultured/fermented feta that has been hanging for a few days, and is now ready to be cut into slabs, salt, let sit at room temperature for a week or so, while turning daily, and then age in a whey/salt brine.

In a month or two this bad boy will be ready to highlight some of our meals. So super excited about this one!

Such a great potluck – thank you to everyone that came, and so many babies and kids, what an extra joy! Again, these nights are the best food in town, we hope you can make the next one.
Our final month for Kid Happy Hour this year, please come and join us!

TRAINING

SUP, hike, boat, backpack, camp, play by the creek, splash in a kiddy pool – whatever your summer fun is with your dog, make sure you and your dog are safe, you have prepared your dog for what you are doing, and you have the gear and first-aid along for the ride!
