I am constantly impressed with dog people, people involved in the greater dog community. No matter the cause, no matter where in the world, if there is a connection, there is help. These are my peeps.
Dog people seem to love with a certain level of fierceness, they are not afraid of a challenge, they are there to help if they can, generosity is abundant, and they support any effort that includes, love, peace, and well-being.
My children and I will be going to Standing Rock, North Dakota over Thanksgiving. We are simply the drivers bringing with us the love and generosity of way to many people to count. We will bring donations of winter clothing, clothing, blankets, canned food, and towels for the medical tent.
I asked our clients and friends in person and on-line to consider donating something to the people at Standing Rock. They are fighting the fight, peacefully, to protect clean water from an out law oil/gas company based in Texas. Many of our clients had not even heard about Standing Rock, as the main stream media is not broadcasting what is going down over there.
So I started posting more information, videos from the people in the camp and on the front line. We now have donations coming in from all over Montana, across the USA, and as far away as Belgium.
It is humbling to receive this outpouring of help, and we are just one car going over there to help in anyway we can. There are thousands of others doing the same, from all over the world, to help, to share what is happening, to stand up for what is right, and to say NO MORE to legalized corruption.
When Amy Goodman’s story, from Democracy NOW! broke, with dogs attacking peaceful protesters, women and children being maced, and this was condoned by the governor of North Dakota, well my family felt moved to do something, more than just comment on posts. By the way, if you have not been following the story, just to amplify the level of corruption, after Amy Goodman posted this video, the governor of North Dakota put a warrant out for her arrest for inciting a riot. The governor was unaware that she was a journalist, and a great one for twenty years at that! Of course the judge through it out, but the bottom line, they do not want the world to see what is happening.
Some people who we talked with yesterday told us about their churches firewood donation that went up last week to Standing Rock. They said that the reverent and spiritual feel of the camp is palpable. The love and peacefulness is real. And that once again, our native people are being marginalized in the media.
Today this video came out, these events happened late last night and into the wee hours of the morning. VIDEO . And just so you know, in case you don’t already, the governor of North Dakota declared a ‘state of emergency’ because of these water protectors protecting their land and water rights. This means YOUR TAX DOLLARS are paying for these mercenaries to harm unarmed peaceful protesters. FACT. Sit on that for a moment.
So our Thanksgiving will be driving over all of the ‘thank yous’ from clients and friends, dog people world wide. You all ROCK!
And as my children pointed out, I am a child of the 60’s, this kind of stuff is my shit. I was raised with sit in’s, protests, doing the right thing, and fighting the good fight. I was raised to care. So now it is my turn to pass this along to my children, that we all must care a whole awful lot if we want to have clean air, clean water, and clean soil. We all must become active, we all must do more than talk about it. This is our planet to live.
We will be posting photos and videos when we can, you can keep up to date on our FB page and we ask that you share. The world needs to know more of what is happening. Share NO DAPL (Dakota Access Pipeline). Allow people to learn about the corruption that is hiding in plain sight.
So with deep respect, a humble heart, love, and enormous amounts of THANKS – Nancy
